Welcome to Morningside Elementary

Morningside Families and Friends,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2020-21 school year at Morningside Elementary!  We hope you are ready for a fabulous year despite the uncertainty presented with our current COVID situation.  I am honored to serve the Morningside community as your Principal!  Morningside Elementary is a wonderful school that has extremely dedicated teachers, exceptional students and committed parents.  Together, I know that we will work hard to continue the tradition of excellence at MES!

Our mission at Morningside Elementary is to empower students, embrace community and enrich lives. We will continue to hold high expectations for student growth and will support each student in achieving these expectations.  Although this year is sure to bring unexpected changes, please know that MES is committed to engaging all students in meaningful and safe learning opportunities, whether they are learning in the building or virtually.

Throughout this school year, staff and students will have the opportunity to continue learning and incorporating leadership skills from Steven Covey’s book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The 7 habits focus on the development of the whole child. It is our goal to find and develop the leader within every child at Morningside Elementary.

You can stay connected and informed by ensuring that your email address is up to date, by following us on Facebook Page, @CISDMorningsideES and checking your child’s backpack for special event flyers.  Each week we will share “Fridge Notes” via Facebook, School Messenger and Class Dojo.  “Fridge Notes” will give you information about what’s going on at MES for the upcoming month and ways that you can get involved.

I believe that a strong partnership between families and the school are important for student success. I can’t wait to connect with you this school year.  Stop by and say hello--my door is always open and I welcome your input.  Let's work together to make sure our students at Morningside Elementary have a great school year!

Respectfully,

Jennifer Smith, Principal
